Honey, Honey

No progress on the block for Mercantile Sampler.  I just wasn’t in the mood.  I finished up a book and went outside to try out my new shovel.  It was much easier to use.  I still had to be careful and only do a little bit because of my back but it was better than the heavy shovel Mike uses.

On Tuesday night I got Honey Honey out for awhile before I went to bed and got one more block done.  Here is the block

This is where it will go

Each 5 inch charm is is quartered and makes one unit.  From other pieces I pick out a square for the middle -didn’t notice my feet were in the bottom of the photo until I was proofing and didn’t feel like going back in to fix that.

I was asked now that I am only weeks left of working on Noriko’s Star which quilt will go on the frame next.  I had to get the box of tops out and see what I had.  Seven items in the box – a couple had a backing with it and some also or only had binding.

I decided on the biggest one in the box so the box will have a little more room in it LOL – it also has binding and a big backing.  The Broken Star Log Cabin.  Very scrappy.  It was started in December of 2024 and finished in early January 2025

I used a lot of American Jane fabric in it and lots of scraps from numerous lines.  It is a big one about 100″ square

I love a log cabin. Will it be difficult to hand quilt through all those seams?

Noriko’s Star is so beautiful and it’ll be fun to watch the log cabin go into the frame. I’m still peeking in most days, just not commenting. Enjoy your Spring!

Lol, my feet are almost always in photos I take where I have pieces on the cutting board! No worries that we will complain about that in your photo. The red print in your Honey block us really pretty. I love that star log cabin quilt – it will be fun to see it out again!

Well I looked at my Merc container/fabrics yesterday, does that count? 😉 I would be tempted to play with Honey Honey all day, it is so pretty. I remember that log cabin quilt.
I’m headed out to the garden this morning. Did I tell you I picked up another tomato plant and a red bell pepper plant? So I’ll have 4 tomato plants – 2 cherries (red one and gold one) and 2 beefsteaks – and the onions are getting good size. Going to plant some dill and flower seeds too.
My poor Hubs has the shingles! He has been in pain since the weekend, went to the doctor on Monday and had it diagnosed. He’s taking an antiviral med and a pain pill. He’s pretty miserable and so tired, I feel sorry for him and anyone who has this painful illness.

I doubt I would have noticed your feet! It will be fun to see what designs you quilt on the log cabin.

That makes sense to get the big top and backing out of the box for the next hand quilting project. I always take the other approach and take the smallest one to finish just to get back into the swing of finishing. You have a good routine of always having a new one on the frame within days of finishing one.

Your Broken Star Log Cabin is a lovely quilt. I’m wondering about you hand quilting over all those seams too.

That red really brightens up the Honey, Honey project. Hard to believe you’ve already picked out the next quilt to put on the frame.

I can’t believe that Noriko’s Star is almost done! That’s amazing! The log cabin looks like it will be a fun one to do next.

Fun to see your next pick on the frame, and going with the largest when it has all the necessary binding and back makes total sense. It is beautiful!
