It Was a Garden Day

I got very little done in the sewing area but I did get about 30 minutes or so done on Honey, Honey.

and here it is side by side as it will be in the row

Noriko’s Star from Saturday night

What did take up a lot of my time was the garden – I was picking berries again – a lot of picking.

Before they went into this big bowl I measured them in my big glass measuring cups – one is 8 cups and the other is 4 cups – both have excess room at the top of the marks for at least one more cup in each — I have picked 13 quarts this past 2 weeks.

It took awhile to get all those berries cleaned and packed to the freezer – I think I have 7 quarts frozen now – something like that.  I’m sure they will slow down soon I’ve been picking for a good two weeks now almost every other day and I know I will still be doing that most likely this week before it slows down some.  I do get some that aren’t quite ripe but I will see one side really red and don’t always look at both sides before they are picked and in the basket.  I admit after I got done picking I had to lay on the heating pad for a little bit to ease out the back and that took time away from going to the sewing room as I picked up a book and what can I say time got away from me.

Strawberries in your garden and your stitching! I had some local greenhouse strawberries this week. They were delicious!

Those berries sure look good. Someone told us about a pick your own place a few miles east of us. We keep intending to check it out. It has been a long time since we tasted a garden fresh strawberry!

That’s a lot of strawberries. Sorry about the back acting up, those things do slow us down. Hopefully you are feeling much better today and can get lots done in the sewing room.

The strawberry pictures are beautiful…..does it inspire thought of a red and green spring quilt? I’m sure your winter self thanks your past spring self for all the work getting the berries into the freezer!

Your strawberries are amazing and look so yummy! How long does it take to pick that many? I think that would hurt my back, too. Glad there was a book and some hand-stitching to do after you finished up!

The strawberries look so pretty in those glass measuring cups! Hopefully your back is feeling better after the heating pad…it’s good that you have a day off in between picking the berries.

It will be nice when you get the strawberry plants up in the raised beds.

Your strawberries look delicious. Do you enjoy them for dessert with ice cream and whipped cream sometimes?
