I was so tired yesterday for some reason – I thought I had slept well but I must not have – I think it was evening before I finally got my energy going – do any of you have days like that? And then it was light rain off and until late afternoon – sometimes I seem to be sleepier on those kind of days.
But I did get laundry done and got my binding ready for Noriko’s Star. I will try to get that ready for hand stitching today – I have it all ready for the sewing machine today.
Strawberries got picked in late afternoon after it stopped raining and I got 6 more cups. They are almost done. It had been 4-5 days since I last picked – that is better than every other day. I don’t think I will need to pick now until the weekend. I checked the garden over and the green beans are popping up and of course after I finally got a cucumber plant already started and a cantaloupe plant the seeds I had planted are finally coming up – I will need to thin those out for sure.
Quilting on the Broken Star Log Cabin from Tuesday night went so smoothly I sat for about an hour without realizing how long I had sat until I got up and was stiff LOL
And this section
Because I just didn’t have energy most of the day and the strawberry picking wore me out I had totally forgotten to take anything out of the freezer to thaw for supper so we went out and got Chinese – yum! after that we went to Wal-Mart to pick up a bag of soil that I needed to repot a couple plants when I put the out on the porch next week and I bought a new plant that caught my eye. This plant goes by several names but I have always known it as a “Prayer Plant” as the leafs fold up at night like you are saying your night time prayer (Catholic children used to do that I don’t know if they still do, but you kneel by your bedside and and say a night time prayer) – it was a little dark in the living room when I took the photo and the flash went off. These plants can be difficult at times to grow but mainly keeping it out of direct light and water once a week works. They do not like to be too dry but can’t be too wet either – too much sunlight will make the plant be sunburn and have brown spots – so lets see if I can grow this one – I always used to have one years ago back in the 70’s and 80’s when I first started to get into plants.

Yes, I have days like you describe where I’m tired for no good reason….sometimes I think it’s cumulative from several days before. Our prayer plant does pretty well as long as we don’t use tap water to water it. The plant store told us the chlorine in the tap water makes the tips of the leaves dry up and turn brown.
I love how your neat hand quilting stitches look on that white fabric that has little Xs printed! It makes the Xs appear to be cross stitches at first glance. Your new houseplant is pretty but now all I can think about is Dairy Queen sundaes from your coupon… I have not been to a DQ in probably 40 years at least but all of a sudden I can almost taste that DQ soft serve vanilla in the cone, the memory is so clear. Your strawberries look mouthwatering-fantastic as well. Clearly I am HUNGRY as I am reading your blog today! 😉
The black binding looks like it will be the perfect finish for NS! Look at all those strawberries, too – they look so yummy. Do you ever want to buy from the grocery store after growing these? I would be spoiled by the homegrown ones. Good luck with your new plant – it’s a pretty one!
The black mottled binding will be perfect for NS. Good start on the Log Cabin. Pretty new plant, hope you’ll get it to thrive. All those yummy strawberries! Are they sweet? We get strawberries here, they are not good, too sour to my taste.
Your stitching on Noriko looks great. I wake up feeling tired, but once I’ve had my coffee, the caffeine kicks in and I feel good. Like Rebecca, I’m eyeing that free cone from DQ! I love their dipped cones.
I wish I could go to your garden and pick some of your strawberries for our margaritas on Saturday! My son is coming, and he always gets out the blender and makes me strawberry margaritas. I’ll have to buy some outlandishly priced ones today that won’t be nearly as good as yours.
I’ve been on muscle relaxants for the back issues, so I napped a lot the last week. Even with the sleepy slow down, you still got a lot done in and out of the sewing room.
