Wow when it rains it pours sometimes. This past week we have had about 3 inches of rain at least and on Wednesday night we had about 2 inches fast the local town that we shop at 12 miles away in the valley had flash flooding and some roads were washed out. Here at the house it was a heavy rain but no flooding other than the garden. I had walked down to the garden to cut that stem that had 5 roses or so on it and walked through the water that is a little deeper than it looks – covered my toes – socks and shoes sopping wet.

I went and cut the rose stem and picked some blueberries turned around and saw that the tomato plant in the second bed first one, had tipped over from the weight of the wind and rain. I walked back to the house and called Mike from the doorway to come get the roses and berries so I could go back and fix it. I didn’t want to take my shoes off they were already wet. I found some tall rebar from the shop and wove it through the tomato cage and pulled it back up straight. Works for now I hope I got it before any damage to it. (you can see that Mike leaves stuff laying all over when he works- I put it all away-he doesn’t) It might be a day or two before all that water soaks in. It is looking like a jungle. I really should have only put 3 tomato plants in each bed not four.
I just have the long stem in a bud vase right now without cutting it any, I might see if I can cut one area to make it shorter. To thick with stems and they don’t fit well in the opening of the vase. I really need to change that table topper out, its been there for awhile I keep forgetting about it.
Another Honey, Honey unit done I think four more for the row I’m working on.
I sat at my new chair and marked lines on all the white blocks to get that part done and got done with another 10 blocks. I have 40 left to do – I really need to just sit and get it done, I keep getting caught up in my book I’m reading. The blue stack o blocks is finished and moved to the finish pile that once again didn’t get in the photo.
The Broken Star Log Cabin from Wednesday night – right now I’m working about an hour each evening and get most of the blocks width done can’t quite reach the last 3 strips on each block otherwise it would be a full block a night.

Beautiful roses….glad you got them cut before the rains ruined them. Your comment about you putting tools and stuff away while your husband leaves them out made me think how early in our marriage I left things out but over time I have adopted my husband’s ways. I’m a bit clumsy and leaving things out always ended up causing me trouble 😉
It’s been the same here with the rain—it was finally dry yesterday, but the mosquitoes are awful. The roses are such a pretty color. I hope you can save the tomato plant!
Indeed it looks like your garden is wet! Hope the tomato plant didn’t get destroyed by the rain. Beautiful color on the roses. It’s raining off and on here this afternoon and more rain expected tomorrow.
That’s a lot of rain! We’re back to wishing it would rain even just a little bit out here in dry Colorado. Those roses are really pretty! A few blocks at a time and those border blocks will be done eventually. What book are you reading?
We need some of that rain, but not all at once!
Mike and Paul must be part of the “no picking up” club, along with my younger brother who was awfully messy as a kid.
We have had quite a bit of rain but also nice sunny days which are a welcome change. Snow is predicted in the higher elevations this weekend, so I will be covering my basil plant once again just in case we get a bit of frost.
Oh those roses are so pretty! Good save on the tomato. My Hubs does the same thing as Mike with things he uses – it makes me a little crazy. 😉 I tend to put things away as I go, with almost everything I do – cooking, baking, sewing, and gardening. It just works for me, and I don’t have cleaning up looming over my head when I get done!
Your garden looks so lush. Jungle gardens are the thing this spring I guess with all the rain and cooler weather we’ve been having. It is about this time every year that I question my sanity in planting tomatoes. These are bushing out and as tall as I am. So far only a few cherry tomatoes have ripened. I may have all vines and no tomatoes. But it looks pretty – lol!
Wow, that is a lot of rain. We’re in a 2 week dry spell right now, half way through.
The roses are so pretty and you really couldn’t have enjoyed them outside this week.
It always looks like so much room for tomato plants until they start growing. I know I’ll have the same problem with the 3 I have in the 4′ square raised bed. I moved my big pots a little farther apart this year hoping to see the end of one plant and the beginning of the next.
