Well I worked on the grid for Silent Night several times “erased” and started over again but yesterday afternoon I got it done so I could get back to quilting last night – erased that before I went to bed on Thursday night so I could start over again yesterday.
And here it is ready for work – Linking to Patchwork an Quilts
I did get the purple tree stitched on Thursday night
One more unit added to Honey, Honey and the next colors picked out except for the little squares that go with them.
I hope to get back to Timeless today I took more time off of it then planned. But I got in a walk outside one in the daytime and only last 5 minutes as it was too hot 95 and then again about 7PM and it was 89 outside but the sun already going down. Mike said he was feeling good enough now to take over the grass cutting duties and he got it cut short – probably won’t need to do more for 3 weeks unless we get rain – it is dry. By Tuesday we are supposed to finally start to get fall weather and be around 80 daytime and 60 night time – that will feel so good!! I should be able to start walking around more and stop being so lazy. I will probably feel better too I bet.
Looking down at Raven over the arm of the chair she was thinking about jumping up
But then she decided by my feet instead. She had clawed me about 2 weeks ago on my arm “playing” and I have thin old lady arms- she drew blood. Well it was just about healed had a good scab that would have been falling off and she went and did it in the same spot drawing blood again. I had to clean it up and get a band aide on it and now will have a bruise there too. I get the red/purple bruises on my arms easily as some older people do but mine started early I think as I have been getting them for about 3 or 4 years now. I googled it said from thin skin with little fat on your arms. I checked with the doctor he agreed – use plenty of lotion to nourish your skin – of course that is what I have been doing – anyone no of any special cream that gets rid of them faster? I think I have tried everything. It says sun damage causes it – could be I hardly ever remembered to put sunscreen on all the time.

I got those bruises when my dog was a puppy. Those puppy and kitten teeth and claws are like needles. My poor arms were torn up all the time. A friend recommended a cream Arnica. It’s a natural remedy that helps the bruising re-absorb into your body. I was surprised at how effective it was.
I wonder if a scratching post would be useful to have for Raven. Scratching it would be better for you! Your Christmas tree quilt looks great.
Looks like the grid pattern for quilting on Silent Night worked out perfectly this time! I love the red blocks in Honey Honey – they really pop out from the more mellow blues. Glad you’re getting some slightly cooler weather so you can get outside more, too. I don’t have a kitten, but still need good stuff for my skin. We use Cera-Ve. It’s a version for “rough and bumpy” skin. Maybe it would help you heal up – we find it at Walmart.
YAY!!!!! for Mike’s recovery process. A huge step for him. Yes, thin skin easily bruises and tears. Bag Balm, right after you dry from a shower/bath. It will need time to absorb but the greasy feeling will leave fast. If you hate that, try Udderly or CeraVie twice a day. There is no magic unfortunately.
Raven sure loves her Meowmy. 😀 Kittens are constantly batting and play-scratching – the play urge is strong – but dang it hurts when they catch your skin! They say it’s always better to get 2 kittens so they can do that to each other, but that doesn’t always work out. The scratcher is helpful, but it sure doesn’t keep mine from scratching the furniture too. 😉
Is that your garden in the photo? Is it in the back of your property, or is that the front? Not sure I’ve ever seen it from a distance, only up close.
Is the marking pen you use on your quilt air, water, or heat disappearing-what brand? I guess not air since you have heat and humidity! Glad you got it all worked out and now it won’t take you long to do the grid. Nice that Mike is getting to the point he can do the lawn as long as he doesn’t overdue and do it all at once and have a set back. Does Raven hang out with Mike or just you?
Those grids have been a pain this week, huh? I love the purple tree. When my daughter had a big dog here, my arms stayed a mess. I bought arm protector sleeves and wore those when I remembered . They come in cute styles and aren’t too hot. Good job on the yard, Mike!
It looks like that grid was tricky to draw, but I see you got a good deal of it drawn and ready to stitch. I get those purplish bruises also. I am going to read the comments and see what everyone suggests.
That’s great that Mike can help with the outside work now. If the heat would just move out of your area it could be enjoyable.
My mother had the thin skin and bruising on her arms too. I guess I have enough fat on my arms that I haven’t had a problem yet. Maybe that is a reason to not lose those few extra pounds.
Mike must be thrilled to be able to get outside and do normal things again!
Arnica is fantastic and also there is something in fresh pineapple juice that helps bruises heal (drink it, don’t pour it on your arm). Glad to hear Mike is doing so much better! I always struggle keeping marked grids aligned across a large area unless I can mark the whole thing with a big stencil. Your progress on both projects looks great.
Arnica,. exists in both cream and pills
I know what you mean about skin problems as we get older. I’m sure Raven didnt mean to scratch you. I get the occasional scratch from Gemma too, usually when she is on my lap and getting ready to jump down. Those claws come out a little bit to give her traction I think. Raven has really bonded with you, I’m sure you love her to bits.
Great that Mike is making good progress. Raven is just adorable, but it does take a while to teach them to sheath their claws at play. Long sleeve shirts for a while, LOL!! Your grid looks perfect.
