Finally got the problem block finished for New York Beauty and that makes it the half way point for these blocks – 27 more to go.
The wall
I sat and quilted longer on Tuesday night then I do sometimes so more progress on Arkansas Traveler
I decided to treat myself to a new Accuquilt Die – actually another Qube the English Paper Piecing Set I had been looking at this one for over a year I think and with my double reward points and the sale and free shipping last week I jumped in and got it. And they included a free ($20 estimate) book by Katja Marek it is a thin book but lots of ideas. I doubt I will plan another big queen size quilt like I am working now but it will be fun to come up with another hand work project. All of the dies cut two sizes one for fabric and one for the papers. I just checked and as of last night it was still on sale – it is a great time to use reward points to add to the discount. I know not a lot of you are interested in EPP but for those of us who are this is a save timer for arthritic hands. If you lay your fabric out right there really is very little waste and I’m at the point in my life and quilting that I don’t mind a little waste if it saves my fingers and hands longer

I love all the NYB blocks! This is going to be a fantastic quilt.
All those bones on the bat’s wings, I think you had to make each one in the block! It looks great! The EPP die looks like fun!!! So it will cut the paper pieces for you, or the fabric? No cactus blooms for me yet. I’m thinking mine is a Christmas one,
Way to go on the challenging block – it’s a beauty! Your new die for the Accuquilt looks handy, especially if it cuts both the paper and the fabric pieces in the sizes you would need. I’ve only ever used hexies for EPP, and one of these days would like to try another shape.
The new NYB block is incredible. Your new QUBE sounds really interesting. Accuquilt sure has made my quilting life easier. And the fabric waste is pretty minimal. I love it!
Your three main projects at the moment are all great, particularly love the NYB blocks – they are amazing. The hexagons are coming on really well as is the hand quilting on Arkansas Traveller, it’ll be interesting to see what goes on the frame next.
The new QUBE sounds as if it will be very useful.
A little sewing is going on here plus quite a lot of knitting.
I always feel an increase in energy when I realize I’m more than half way through a project. How much time do you usually devote to quilting at your frame in the evenings?
That was one complicated NY Beauty block. I hope there are a few easier ones now.
You will have so much fun with that die set. I agree, saving our hands and getting to the project quicker. I love my die cutter and die assortment.
Your Thanksgiving cactus is so pretty. I hope it reblooms for you again this winter. About half of mine rebloom but with less flowers.
The latest NYB block came out looking good, it’s reallly complicated. The blocks up on the design wall are looking so good together. Happy stitching this weekend. Looks like you’ve got a new fun toy to play with.
Wow, that NYB is very different! I don’t think I’ve seen one quite like that. Your wall is looking so beautiful! Great job on the quilting too! Have fun with your new die set! Some of those shapes look interesting. But not enough to want me to do EPP!!! LOL I think it’s beautiful, but not for me!
Looking at your NYB block I couldn’t tell that it gave you problems, it looks great! I can see you doing more EPP so that is a good deal for you to have the cube for it.
WOW – love the way all the bones line up on the block. And the little guy is so adorable. I’m sure I’d feel differently if he was in my yard but we always make a point of spending time with them at the zoo. Amazing animals.
Thanks!
