28 Blocks

The New York Beauty keeps growing maybe by the end of January I will be done on the blocks and work on the border in February? I think I might do a RSC quilt in 2024 – not the 5+ I did last year which has taken me all of 2023 to work on them – I will have 2 RSC quilts still waiting in line to quilt – the Hunters Star and Carpenters Wheel are both waiting in line to quilt next year.  (almost all of the RSC quilts pieced in 2022 have been given to my brother’s and sisters this year as I finished quilting them – four more siblings to give to and I have two quilts finished and ready to give and the two that need quilting will be given — I have 9 surviving siblings) (there were 12 of us total)

Block 28 is called Emu Too – that is because there are two Emu blocks in the quilt – a little different design but 2 of them

The Emu

The Design wall – two more blocks to make on that right side then I will start on the center blocks – as I add the center blocks I think I will start to sew the rows together also – that will leave less long rows to do at the end.  After the center there are two more rows to make (14 blocks).  Linking to Patchwork & Quilting

Fabric for the next one – I need to press the bigger pieces they were from the batik bundle I got a couple weeks ago and hadn’t gotten around to pressing after they were washed.

Started some hexie flowers for the next section of border on Noriko’s Star

Got done quilting the end of the row on Arkansas Traveler Thursday

And rolled it down – its getting there – I am linking to SoScrappy today – and this is where you can get the information on the RSC quilts if you want to take part in January

Another beautiful block! You came from a big family. I’ll bet the other siblings are looking forward to their quilts!

Great gifts for your family. Gorgeous colourful blocks. This one should be called Australian beauty.

Your newest NYB block looks great! I enjoyed looking at all those amazing blocks up on your wall – they’re going to make such an interesting quilt. That’s wonderful that you’re giving all your siblings a quilt! Will you be able to give this one away?

Emu Too is beautiful! Good plan to do only RSC quilt next year. ?

*Only one RSC quilt. Sheesh. My hands and shoulders are sore. And it distracts me.

Those quilts are perfect gifts! Do you place the NYB blocks according to the pattern, or your preference in placement?
Hope you enjoy your weekend – it’s cold here this morning, 37!

Wow! I’m always blown away by your work. Such awesome use of color, especially in the New York Beauty.

NYB is going to be such a gorgeous quilt. I know paper piecing helps with accuracy, even so, your blooks look so neat and clean. Looking forward to seeing what you decide on for your 2024 RSC quilts. You’ve made some beautiful ones over the last few years. You had 12 siblings? My Guy has 9 and that was a houseful when everyone got together. I can’t imagine 12!

It looks like you will be starting with a new quilt on the frame for the new year.

Lovely NYB block, and your design wall looks very pretty. I love how the lighter patches are displayed mixed with darker ones. Beautiful variety of colors too!
Wow for Arkansas Traveler, you have already reached the end of the row? Nice to have projects for the next RSC ;))
Thank you so much for sharing, and linking up!

Your NYB quilt is coming along nicely. I love how you have varied the color scheme, fabric styles and the blocks themselves, but by keeping the arc the same you have achieved cohesiveness. Fascinating.

I love seeing Emu’s! Great block and the AT is coming along nicely.

Your NYB blocks are certainly growing, they are all looking fabulous together. Its wonderful that you are iving your siblings a quilt each, but I wonder if they realise the amount of work which goes into each? Especially as you hand quilt each one.

Beautiful NYB blocks! I really should get back to mine. I can’t imagine doing 5 RSC blocks in on year! In 2022, I made 3 and paired it down to 1 this year! True that it didn’t make a dent in my scrap bins, but I was able to have time to work on other projects and that’s OK!

  • Angela Feldbush Dec 2, 2023 @ 16:24

Coming along so well! I love that everyone is starting to think about next year already.

  • Laurie Dec 2, 2023 @ 17:30

What beautiful and striking blocks! They will make a beautiful quilt.

  • Joan Dec 3, 2023 @ 16:56

This block is my fav so far (they all are!) But this looks like Lady Liberties Crown.
Amazing to watch it grow! Thanks
