It was one of those days when not much sewing got done. I had laundry going and the closet was dried out and aired out from the hot water heater leaking like crazy – we wanted to make sure the floor was completely dried out before filling it back up so had a fan in there for that for a couple days and finally got around to putting things back- I will say this I am so glad that I had transferred almost everything in that area to plastic zipped storage bags and big plastic containers so nothing was sitting on the floor that got destroyed. I have two big tubs in that closet full of Xmas quilts – not necessarily themed that way but red/green type).
In the afternoon we decided to drive to our closest Sam’s for restocking the freezer before prices go up even more and they had gone up more in the little more than two and half months since the last time we went. So no sewing ever got done. I had a message from the Fat Quarter Shop that my flannel shipped and should come tomorrow or Saturday so I will wait to work more on Silent Night until and I see the red and decide which red or use a combination of the two red flannels that I will have.
I am still having server issues with the blog – it is in and out so if you can’t get it to pull up and leave a comment you usually can later in the day.
On the drive only a mile or so from the house Mike spotted two Bald Eagles high up in a dead tree so pulled over so I could get photos – they were sitting right next to each other – they were quite a distance away for a phone photo but I did my best and then cropped and enlarged which distorted it a little but you can see them.
Then one flew off and I got a photo of the remaining one – I didn’t bother to enlarge and it is a clearer photo. The dead tree is in a hay field so it won’t fall on anyone when it eventually comes down in a storm.
A little more work was done on hexies and I’m ready to thread baste the next row.
And more was done on The Rose Garden on Tuesday night – the next section is marked and ready for work
Yesterday only got up to 76 and the low last night was 58 another nice cooler day today and then of course back to a week of high 80’s/60’s – when will fall come and stay? no rain chances in sight of course next week with the warmer weather.

That is a beautiful photo of the single hawk in that stark tree! Glad you are having cool nights – our nights are in the mid 60s.
I finally got all the blocks finished for the charity quilt, will sew them together and decide whether I just want to send the flimsy to the quilt shop to finish it or do it myself. I hate for anyone to see the back of my quilt!! It’s for the Kerrville flood victims. We are off to shop today too, both of us dreading the trip and wishing to stay home.
Great sighting of the bald eagles! They are so amazing to see. Glad you got the closet dried out and everything that was in there is okay. We’re in the 80s here today, too – our weather is very changeable right now. 50s on Tuesdays, 80s today! I never know how to dress in the morning and end up changing clothes mid-day.
I think I have only seen an eagle once. I see hawks more often high up in the trees.
How cool to see the eagles!
I love spotting bald eagles…it is fabulous that they were able to recover and now we see them more frequently. It always feels like a blessing.
