I didn’t get around to anything other than getting pieces cut for the first 9 blocks of Timeless. Melanie and Ric ended up staying for a longer visit than normal and I was visiting all evening.
Melanie was washing a few older quilts that she has and when she was taking them out of the dryer I thought I would get some photos. The first one was an early attempt at machine quilting. The fabric in this one is some that I won from a give away back one there were so many. I followed a lot of blogs back then and had several lucky streaks with winning. I should have had someone hold this one up – I sure didn’t think it was as old as it is.
The label from the back says 2012 and was called Pyramid here is a link
The quilting on it.
Here is another one –I called this one Bird Brain and I had seen a lot of bird quilts on Pinterest and made it looking at those. This link will take you to the 2018 post I did on it, linking to Jennifer’s Inquiring Quilter Wednesday Wait Loss
This one was hand and machine quilted. I believe I wanted to try out a fancy stitch and see what it would look like.
we put the kitty in the sewing room with the door closed for the visit so it wouldn’t be so stressful on the animals (and us it was pretty noisy the day before) and Raven slept in the sewing room the whole time I think behind Mikes computer screen. Peaceful!!
Back to regular catch up today on quilting.

I remember when you were working on Bird Brain! Was it that long ago?!? How time flies. I made a little quilt with those bird blocks a few years ago. I had it on sale at the florist/gift shop downtown but it got lost in the flood of 2023.
How neat to see your older quilts! I saw Melanie’s comment on the Bird Brain post, that is sweet. My daughter would love that one – she loves birds too.
Glad that Raven was happy being closed in the room, maybe she felt safe.
How did you make the label for Pyramid?
It’s so fun to pull out older quilts and remember how and when you made them! I remember you making the Bird Brain quilt and have often thought about making a bird quilt, too, inspired by yours. Glad Raven got some space from the dog last night. The first visit sounded pretty crazy!
A fun blast from the past re-visiting those quilts wasn’t it!
Oh, what fun to see some quilts from the past. Glad it was calmer for all with Raven in the sewing room.
It’s fun to see some of your earlier quilts again. I remember when you were working on the bird quilt.
It’s fun to look back at our quilts, especially if they held up well. I remember those birds! I made three, then called it quits. The quilt I fit them into is still unfinished.
What a trip down memory lane! Love both quilts but I have to say the Bird Brain is super cute. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss. https://www.inquiringquilter.com/questions/2026/09/09/wednesday-wait-loss-501
Both of those quilts are nice! I enjoyed seeing them. Are either of your daughters guilters?
